Idli Dosa Chutney / Green Chutney For Idli Dosa -  Sharing a simple South Indian chutney recipe. The word CHUTNEY is derived from an Indian term CHUTNEY meaning crushed. In the earlier days, to make a chutney - ingredients were usually crushed to a coarse texture using a stone MORTAR and a hand PESTLE. Now a days we make chutney in the mixture blender. Green chutney is a quick, delicious and hot made using coriander leaves, green chilli and desiccated coconut. Most South Indian breakfasts are served with chutney which usually taste hot and sour. Idli Dosa Chutney Recipe shared here gives a thick, hot and delicious chutney which can be served not only with South Indian breakfast but also with snacks and parathas.

Ingredients:
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilli - 1
  • Garlic clove - 1
  • Green chilli - 1
  • Green coriander - Few leaves roughly chopped
  • Desiccated coconut - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curd - 3 tbsp
  • Roasted chickpeas (Daliya)- 3 tbsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Water - 4-5 tbsp
Method:

1) Prepare ingredients.


2) Peel the skin of roasted chickpeas (Daliya) and soak into the water for 30 minutes.


3) Blend these ingredients into the blender.


4) Add green coriander leaves into the blender jar.


5) Add green chilli, garlic clove, desiccated coconut, salt, soaked chickpeas and curd.


6) Add little water.
7) Blend it for 1-2 minutes.


8) Chutney paste is ready.


9) Pour it into a bowl.


10) Heat a tadka pan on low flame.
11) Now add 1 tsp oil and let it heat.


12) Add mustard seeds/rai and dry red chilli.
13) Seeds start to pop, fry until cracklings.




14) Turn off the flame, pour tadka over chutney and mix it well.




15) You can have it with Idli, Dosa, Uttapam and Medu vada.
