Chole Masala Recipe / Pressure Cooker Chole / Easy Chana Masala / Chole Recipe - Chole masala or chana masala is one of the most popular curry dishes from India. It is popular North Indian curry recipe which is widely appreciated all over India. Easy chole masala recipe with Indian spices made in restaurant style. One of the most simple Indian recipes to make chana masala with a delicious gravy that goes great with naan, roti, poori, paratha and steamed rice. In this recipe, chick peas/chole chana are cooked with onion, tomato and lots of spices. A special blend of spices called chole masala powder is easily available at every Indian store. Ingredients:
- Chick peas / Kabuli chana - 200 g
- Sliced onion - 1
- Chopped tomato - 1
- Kashmiri red chili pwd - 2 tsp
- Coriander pwd - 2 tsp
- Chole masala - 1 tsp
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1 tsp
- Chopped ginger - 1 inch
- Garlic cloves - 5-7
- Chopped green coriander - few leaves
- Green chilli - 1
- Bay leaves - 2
- Cinnamon stick - 1
- Whole maze - 1 flower
- Green cardamom - 2
- Black cardamom - 1
- Star anise - 1
- Cooking oil - 2 tbsp
Method:
1) Prepare ingredients.
2) Soak chickpeas/Chana into the water for 6-7 hours or overnight.
3) Add chopped tomato, onion, ginger and garlic into the blender jar.
4) Add little water in it and blend it into a smooth paste.
5) Heat a pressure cooker on medium flame and add 2 tbsp oil.
6) Add dry spices and saute for few seconds.
7) Add green chilli and paste in it and mix it well.
8) Add kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and cumin powder and mix well.
9) Now add soaked chickpeas/chole chana and mix it well.
10) Add salt and chana masala and mix well.
11) Add 1 small jug water (250 ml) and mix well.
12) Close the lid and cook it until 7-9 whistles on high flame or till 10-12 minutes.
13) After 7-9 whistles, let the cooker cool down, release the pressure and open the lid.
14) Chole masala is ready so check and taste it.
15) Transfer it into a curry pot and garnish with coriander leaves.
16) Serve hot with nan, roti and steamed rice.
